Industy Leader for Over 40 Years

When you open a bottle of TWG wine, you open a story of passion—from the way we care for the land and vines, to the creative blending and caretaking by the winemakers and cellar teams, and to all of those who tend to the wine along the way.

For nearly forty years, we have led with passion. A passion for the company (privately held and management-owned) and for our more than 60 award-winning brands.

The Beginning of TWG

The Wine Group originates within Coca-Cola Bottling of New York during a period when U.S. consumer product companies are eager to enter the wine business. The company acquires the Franzia, Mogen David, and Tribuno brands. It’s near the end of this era that the revolutionary, "fresh to the last glass," Franzia Wine Tap® packaging makes its debut.

The Wine Group- On its Own

After a leveraged buy-out in 1981, The Wine Group (TWG) becomes a privately held company owned by its executives by 1984. Soon after, Summit, California Colony, and Corbett Canyon brands are acquired. MD 20/20 wine coolers launch and TWG becomes the fourth largest wine company in California.
